Below is a picture of the type of stretcher frame that I like to use for my punch needle projects. Like I said before, they are available in a number of sizes and do a better job of keeping the fabric taut than anything else I have tried. I just use simple thumbtacks to attach the project to the frame and use the rubber mallet to tap the frame pieces together or take them apart. Btw, the project I have ready to start is from an awesome website (link on the right) Aon-Celtic. The artist offers a bunch of Celtic designs for free and since there is an option of printing them in black and white, they are wonderful to adapt as punch needle patterns. I used one of her free patterns to make this heart wreath (above) to put on a sweatshirt for Valentine's Day.
